What is under it
A new floor does not fix a soft one.
Bad subfloor shows through any covering you put on top of it, sooner or later.
- Subfloor checked — soft boards cut out and replaced before anything is laid.
- Levelled where it dips — so planks do not rock and grout does not crack.
- Set out to the room — full boards where the eye lands, cuts where it does not.
- Trim and thresholds — finished at the doorways, not left with a gap.

How it runs

Soft sections cut out, screwed down flat, dips filled.
Set out and lay
Started off the sightline so the room reads straight.
Trim and clean
Beading, thresholds, offcuts gone, floor swept and walkable.
While we are in there
Floors are rarely the only thing.
Once a room is empty, the rest of it is cheaper to put right than it will ever be again.
